Welcome Teachers at Williams Elementary School!

Hi! My name is Jacqueline Lopez. I am the Resource Specialist (RSP) Teacher at Williams School. I love what I do and continue to grow in my profession. I'm always looking for more ideas and strageties to share with other teachers and to help our special learners be more successful. Because our RSP kids are fully included in their general education classrooms, socialization among RSP students and non RSP students is one of those strenghts we have seen increase within the past year. However, we continue to struggle with discipline issues with particular students who have social skill deficits and continue to get into trouble due to their lack of skills training. The purpose of this website is to provide information and resources regarding social skills training strategies and other relevant information for working with students who have Specific Learning Disabilities. The strategies used in this site come from a text, Skillstreaming the Elementary School Child (Rev. ed.) by McGinnis, E. & Goldstein, A. (1997). Skillstreaming uses four direct instruction principles of learning: modeling, role-playing, feeback, and transfer.
Skillstreaming Teaching Steps
    1. Define the skill
    2. Model the skills
    3. Establish student skill needs
    4. Select role-player
    5. Set up the role-play
    6. Conduct the role-play
    7. Provide performance feedback
    8. Assign skill homework
    9. Select next role-player
I hope you enjoy the information I bring to you. If not, let me know how I can update my webpage to serve you better.
